We Walk UHNITED

I'm UHNITED to push health care forward!

It takes a city to change the world, and I’m doing my part through We Walk UHNITED presented by Rogers in support of University Health Network (UHN), Canada’s #1 hospital.

Reimagining health care starts here. But I can’t do it alone. With your support, UHN will have the power to:

  • Drive breakthrough research even faster
  • Recruit the brightest medical talent from around the globe
  • Equip them with cutting-edge tools and technology

Your donation fuels the bold ideas that help UHN go beyond the status quo and achieve what’s never been done before.

Donate to me today and be part of the community that’s transforming health care for everyone!

My Updates

I'm on the right track baby, I was born this way!

Thursday 19th Mar

I was born with a heart defect—just no one knew it.

Throughout my childhood and young adult life, I was constantly explaining to doctors I was born with a heart murmur when they hear my irregular heartbeat although none of those doctors ever asked me WHY.  Why did my heart beat differently than other hearts?  What is the murmur indicating?  Nothing was ever asked – until at twenty-three years old, having just moved to Toronto to start my career – my new doctor wasn’t settling for my standard answer of “I was just born with it” and insisted I see a cardiologist to find out more.

From there, everything shifted. What I had normalized for years suddenly had a name, a diagnosis that felt both shocking and strangely relieving. A congenital heart defect—something I had lived with my entire life without knowing.

The diagnosis brought clarity, but it also brought a wave of emotions.  There was fear and frustration. What would have been different if I had known sooner? Would I have pushed less, or understood more?

Learning about my condition as an adult meant relearning my own body. It meant shifting from self-doubt to self-awareness, from pushing through everything to listening. For the first time, I had a framework to understand my limits—and permission to respect them.

There’s something disorienting about discovering that your body has carried a hidden story all along. But there’s also something empowering in finally knowing the truth.

And now, with a name for what I’ve lived through, I can move forward differently—not with fear, but with understanding. Not with frustration, but with compassion for the person I was before I knew.

Because sometimes, the most important diagnosis isn’t just about what’s wrong—it’s about finally understanding what’s been right all along: your ability to keep going, even without answers.
