Momma’s Walk for a new breath on life

Hello and greeting to all, my name is Brendan James Kennedy and I have started this fundraising page on behalf of my mother. Many years ago she was diagnosed with COPD and her breathing and quality of life where never the same. With a very limited ability to even move, I could only watch her condition get worse. She’d started treatments, but these where only attempts to slow down the increasingly worsening symptoms.

Eventually, she was accepted to be on a list for a double lung transplant. I didn’t even know that such a procedure was possible, let alone her being eligible and healthy enough. But she was on the list and all we could do is wait a hope it would happen without any complications.

Then early this spring : it all happened. My mother got the call, went down to Toronto General, and into surgery she went. It was terrifying to see her go through, but she did it! The medical team was successful on their transplant of her new lungs.

So on behalf of everyone who was apart of the process along the way, I can’t say it enough : THANK YOU! From the doctors, nurses, surgeons, pharmacists, specialists.. I can’t begin to express my gratitude enough!

So to try and pay back everything that these wonderful people and organizations have done : I (her son) will be registering to walk / run in the ‘we walk united’ fundraiser.

Any and every donation will be MUCH appreciated and going towards a wonderful cause to help other families in the future. Thank you for your generosity in advanced!
