We Walk UHNITED

UHNITED to make a difference!

Did you know when UHN and Toronto come together believing anything can happen, it does? That’s just one reason I’ve registered for We Walk UHNITED and chose to raise funds for University Health Network (UHN).

Please donate to me and support my efforts to give back and change lives. The spirit behind UHNITED is the power of great minds from different disciplines joining forces to not only deliver the best care, but to tackle some of the toughest health care challenges of our day. But it can’t be done without your support.

Proceeds from We Walk UHNITED will support the most urgent needs of UHN. Your support gives them the flexibility to respond to the increasing demands on our healthcare system, while helping Canada’s #1 hospital accelerate groundbreaking research. It helps UHN to recruit the best and brightest medical minds and equip them with the latest cutting-edge equipment and technology – so they can keep pushing the status quo of healthcare and do what’s never been done.

Heart to Heart

Tuesday 20th May
Being born into this world with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). My childhood was somewhat of a challenge. I was,nt unable to do the things other kids can, like running, playing sports, and keep up in the playground. I would get short of breath easily and would have to take time out to relax.
In 1970, at the age of 8 I underwent bypass
surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children to correct my VSD, which was a success. Still I was'nt able to keep up physically. My 12 other siblings understood and did their best to protect me in every way possible. Watching out for me must have been a challenge for them as well.
Moving forward to 2018, I underwent another open heart surgery to replace my Pulmonary valve which was performed by Dr Edward Hickey at the Toronto General Hospital in downtown Toronto. Shortly after my surgery, I was having some arrhythmia issues and had to have an ICD  ( Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) implanted.  It has been 7 years
since then at I am greatful to say that I'm doing
very well and living a normal life again without
 difficulties.
I am followed up regularly with Dr Nair ( Elecrophysiologist) and Dr Leeland Benson
 (Cardiologist) at Toronto General Hospital.
On May 31st 2025 I am joining hundreds of
friends, family members and heart patient
survivors like myself on a 5k walk to raise
funds for the University Health Network.
I wish everyone great success as we walk
 UHNITED.
