Did you know that when UHN and Toronto come together believing anything can happen, it does? That’s just one reason I’ve registered for "We Walk UHNITED" and chose to raise funds for University Health Network (UHN).
Please donate to support my efforts to give back and change lives. The spirit behind UHNITED is the power of great minds from different disciplines joining forces to not only deliver the best care, but to tackle some of the toughest health care challenges of our day... but it can’t be done without your support.
Proceeds from "We Walk UHNITED" will support the most urgent needs of UHN. Your support gives us the flexibility to respond to the increasing demands on our healthcare system, while helping Canada’s #1 hospital accelerate groundbreaking research. It helps UHN to recruit the best and brightest medical minds and equip them with the latest cutting-edge equipment and technology – so they can keep pushing the status quo of healthcare and do what’s never been done.

Why I'm walking on May 31st...
Friday 16th May
I have participated in several fundraising events over the past 2 decades... but this one, the first ever UHN fundraising walk, is one that I felt I simply had to do - for many reasons.
First and foremost, I am walking in gratitude for the exceptional, high-intensity care that UHN - and specifically the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, Ward 4B – provided for over a decade, time and time again, to the man in the photo above - my Dad – as he battled bravely against complex cardiovascular disease. Rest in peace, Dad.
More recently, I have also felt immense gratitude toward the medical teams at the Ajmera Transplant Centre, who provided exceptional, high-intensity care, time and time again, to my cousin's husband… and continue to do so today. The team at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute also helped him to regain strength and function so he could be at home to spend this past Christmas with his wife and his two young sons. The Palliative Care physicians, nurses, and social workers at Toronto General, Toronto Western, and Toronto Rehab continuously provide compassionate care and demonstrate their dedication to patients and families, despite having insufficient resources to run their program. I am in awe of them, every single day.
These are just 3 examples of my up-close-and-personal experience with Canada's #1 Hospital. This is the place that I trust to put a heart-pumping device into my father's chest, and to transplant a liver into my cousin's husband. I can trust this place because it attracts the best and brightest clinicians with the top-notch expertise, knowledge, and dedication to deal with complex cases and to keep on problem-solving to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients and their families.
I will be walking on May 31st, not only out of gratitude, but also full of HOPE, that with my support - with all of our support - UHN will continue to transform healthcare in Canada.
As a UHN employee, this walk will also be a public demonstration of my everyday commitment to do my part to help realise the UHN vision: A Healthier World.
