Next month will mark 10 years since my eight-hour plus open heart surgery at Toronto’s University Health Network. A surgery that, I have no doubt, is the reason I am still here today. So, how could I refuse to participate in UHN’s inaugural WE WALK UHNITED? I know that 5km isn’t really very far, but it’s been a long time since I’ve walked that distance in one go - not coincidentally, 10 years. The heart surgery and subsequent cancer treatment have taken their toll, so I won’t be setting any speed records. But I’ll work up to it and give it a go.  Please consider supporting me and Team One Step Beyond.
